Given what I currently have in the iTunes library what would be good alternatives for removing the Apple piece and not losing the iTunes library? Appreciate any thots. Probably iTunes as well as Apple is dropping it. With what I’m doing I think the minis will need to go. I heard something on a business channel that made the picture clear, Apple sees the future where they offer hardware as a service so you pay a monthly charge for your equipment and replace it every couple of years. Apple disabled my Ipad and when I called them they said sorry nothing we can do (meaning there is nothing they are willing to do.) YouTube solved the problem. In addition to the Minis I’ve two desk tops and an Ipad. So I’ve been with Apple since around 2008. It’s clear to me the cables and speakers have a big impact, the amps I might fail a listening test. For digital I use MC 501 monos for amps and MIT cables, for analog VPI, Atma-sphere amps and Audioquest cables. I like to believe that from the dac on what you spend is worth the added cost. I currently use the Esoteric D-07x as my dac. If this is not true I’d like to understand what happens to degrade the signal. If something like that is “making it better” I think that is a different issue. Before going to PC audio I was big into dCS and upsamplng. If this is true and the original source is not degraded then what would be better by another alternative. In the digital phase the objective is to acquire the best source you can and then not allow it to degrade on the way to the analog stage. What I thot I learned when I started this is that there are two basic stages, the digital and the analog. I started with a Mac Mini and the two I now use are vintage 2011 & 2014. I don’t stream, I acquire music in a few ways and keep it on a hard drive. Can anyone solve? Many thanks.I’m a bit out of touch on PC audio, I’ve hardly changed much in the 10+ years I’ve been in it. On start-up it can take an age for the N1 to appear in the app. Sometimes it can't find it again with the refresh in the app and I have to re-start the app and N1. Music stops and the N1 disappears from the app. The N1 disappears from the Melco app and needs refreshing from within it pretty much whenever the third track of an album finishes, almost guaranteed. Problem is I'm getting even more dropouts than before and music collection is very slow to load. Compatible with all audio formats, it can synchronize with multiple source folders. Free trial HD Library Manager Audirvna is an ideal solution to manage and organize your local music library. (Router 1 is a Sky Q hub 1gb Router 2 is a 300mbps Buffalo). Audirvna STUDIO Enjoy all your streaming and local music with the best playback sound quality. Internet router 1 via ethernet to switch via ethernet to internet port on router 2 via ethernet to Melco via USB to DAC. They recommended running 2 routers WAN/LAN with the N1 connected to the second router using a different default gateway to the first in order to effect this. Following occasional dropouts with my Melco N1ZH mkll, Melco suggested isolating my audio control system from the rest of my internet processes. Hello All, I'm a Newbie here and struggling with a router isolation issue I hope someone might be able to solve for me. Has anyone seen anything about this direct wired connection for iPad or Tablet with the Melco directly connected? I can only guess this would be a USB connection to the Melco and an Ethernet direct connection to the amp/DAC. MinimServer has been working fine with the new Melco App and my Devialet in the main system. To keep my Audirvana playlists I had to rewrite the rules for every smart playlist and export the fixed playlists and reimport them - half a day's work because of unwanted p/w protection. In the end I had to delete the library and recatalogue. Once I tried the nobody/nobody p/w for SMB file sharing on my Mac I could mount the library for Audirvana which then needed a new password for EVERY TRACK played. However, I use my Melco to feed two systems one with MinimServer and one with Audirvana. When this was changed to Nework the setting was DCHP not the Fixed IP address I always use - luckily the IP DNS addresses were there just not selected. My N1 defaulted to Direct player connection with no IP address. Some similar issues with Melco Firmware 3.9.
